She wants to teach her student s that physical activity is a lifestyle that can enhance the spiritual, physical and emotional self. She wishes to provide opportunities for social growth and development, which can lead students to become effective and contributing members of society. Her teaching philosophy is to foster a positive self-concept with regard to the body and physical activities, while promoting self-confidence and self-direction. She is quoted as saying, “I hope that, when students walks out of my gym, they feel as though they can do whatever they set their mind to. Can’t is not a word that I allow my students to use in the gym. I always encourage them to say I’ll try. Therefore, this emphasizes a positive way to look at a given task.”
Miss Breiding’s promise to parents is that she will emphasize that their child’s words, deeds and actions should be reflective of positive behavior. She will try to the best of her abilities to be consistently supportive if children are experiencing difficulties. She will always work to be appreciative of their ideas and respectful of their efforts.
